L-psychology

Everyone’s got what it takes to face the problems life sometimes presents, we’re just not always aware of it when we need to.

This is the motto Saskia Lamers of L-Psychology adheres to. She will gladly support you facing your problems when help is needed.

L-Psychology offers accessible, professional care. The approach is positive, personal and flexible. The treatment revolves around you and your needs instead of your problem or possible disorder.
Psychological help can be confrontational and emotional. Saskia creates a safe environment, in which everything can be discussed, even when it's hard to do so.

Saskia is an experienced registered psychologist who continually develops her knowledge. She uses multiple contemporary techniques, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aimed at positive behavioral change to maximize human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life, and Eye Movement Desentisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy proven to be effective in treatment of trauma and anxiety among others.

Method

When we have to deal with painful events and experiences in our life, we can usually come to terms with ourselves, yet sometimes we get stuck. At these times, someone helping you to sort out your thoughts and feelings might be very usefull to get your life back on track.

When you’re dealing with psychological problems and you want to do something about them, when you feel the need to self-examine or you simply wish to enhance your personal growth, L-psychology can help you to achieve such.

The decision to get psychological help can be difficult, but is certainly no sign of weakness or even plain incapability. It indicates that you value your health and quality of life. It also requires effort, the willingness to self-examine, commitment and above all, courage to change and address things differently.

Frequent complaints can be:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Burnout
• Anger issues
• Grief issues
• Self-esteem issues
• Compulsiveness
• Inexplicable physical complaints
• Relationship problems
• Life and identity questions
• Expat life issues
• Workplace issues

Diagnostic consultation

Diagnostic consultation

During our first meeting, we discuss your main issue and explore your needs and expectations. Consequently we decide on the objectives we’re aiming to achieve, which method and approach will be best suited for your treatment and the number of consultations the treatment will consist of.

If we conclude a form of treatment is applicable and I can’t offer such, a proper referral will be made.

Treatment

During the treatment, we work on the objectives initially discussed. We can do this either face to face or online, depending on your preference. You may receive assignments at the end of a session. Consequently, you will not only develop yourself during the sessions, but also inbetween them. You will apply new insights to your daily life. During the treatment, we regularly evaluate to see if everything is developing according to your needs. If necessary, we will adjust the treatment plan.

Completion

When you have reached your desired objectives, time has come to discuss how to make sure this change will be permanent and come up with a relapse prevention plan.

Privacy

Naturally, everything we discuss is strictly confidential. This also applies to all data I record. Consultation with third parties is a possibility if appropriate, but only with your express consent.

Location

The first meeting preferably takes place at my office in Haarlem. This one-on-one consultation is essential for assessing the complaints and establishing a fitting treatment plan. After this, treatment can eather take place in my office or online. Nevertheless, it is also possible to follow the entire treatment, including the first meeting, online. When this applies to you we converse through Skype which offers free and secure chat and phone/video conferencing options.
